WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT??
BoB is a tournament-style quiz bowl based on the 20 books from this year's BoB list. Up to 30 MNPS middle schools made up of 5 players each will compete in an all-day fieldtrip on May 18, 2017 to the Nashville Public Library.
HOW IT WORKS
Ms. Coutras can only take one team of 5. If there are more than 5 students interested, an in-school battle will take place to find our team. In the meantime START READING! Your entire team will be responsible for knowing the information in all 20 books.
STAGE ONE: read 2 BoB books & fill out a book information sheet for each
STAGE TWO: receive more details about the competition & select your team of 5
these team will divide the reading of the 20 BoB books, meet weekly to write practice questions & prepare for the in-school competition
STAGE THREE: compete in the in-school BoB battle; winner will represent Rose Park as the official BoB team in the district competition
STAGE FOUR: the BoB team will meet weekly to review rules & practice questions
During the battles all questions are asked in this format: 'In which book does a young magician attend Hogwarts?' The answer will always be a book title. In January and February, teams will meet to write their own questions (for close reading and practice). Then Ms. Coutras will set a date for the in-school battle.
The winning team of the in-school competition will represent Rose Park at an all-day fieldtrip against 29 other MNPS middle schools in the district-wide competition held at the Main branch of the Nashville Public Library. The team will be provided transportation, breakfast, and lunch, and author Jewell Parker Rhodes will speak and give all students a signed copy of Towers Falling. The winning team will receive the first place trophy, a limousine ride, dessert, and bragging rights!
